Cinco de Mayo
Instead of a typical "school bell," the students of Marina del Rey Middle School were alerted to the start of lunch by the sound of a DJ's turn table.
Classroom doors swung open and students swarmed to the quad where the Cinco de Mayo celebration began to take form. Whether students overtly danced in the center of the quad, or grooved, undercover-style, with a small group of friends, it was obvious that every student was enjoying themselves.
The faculty gladly provided the students with an extra five minutes to enjoy themselves, knowing that they would promptly return to class when the concluding lunch bell rang. All students behaved perfectly, everyone arrived to 5th period in a timely manner, and many students thanked the faculty for providing a fun lunch-time environment. The faculty is looking forward to the next chance we have to reward our amazing Mariners for their excellent behavior and over-all positive attitudes!
