Dear Marina Parents:
Welcome to Marina del Rey Middle Schools (MDRMS). As a Board Member of the MDR Booster Club, a parent-involved group, I welcome you to join us in our efforts to enhance each child’s educational experience. We are a non-profit fundraising organization working on behalf of your child. Our responsibilities include talking with you about our organization, enrolling you as a member, and very importantly, encouraging you to get involved in your child’s school. Activities/Events/Fundraisers slated for this year. Look for us at Back-to-School Night, Magnet showcases and other school community events. We collect BOX TOPS throughout the year, and are participants in retailer/school-related programs such as Escrip and grocery stores. We support student and family events as well as grant teachers’ Wish Lists’ and provide incentives during student testing. More details can be found in documents posted on this website and explained at monthly meetings. Every year, we reach out to MDRMS families to support the Club by way of membership enrollment and pledge drives. If all goes well, MDRMS wants to raise $25,000 for the school, which will go towards educational enrichment.
All parents and caregivers, along with school faculty can be members! Becoming a member does not mean you automatically sign up to volunteer, it just means you support our group and believe in what we’re doing.
Become a Volunteer… YOU should get involved!
We are a busy group and this is where you can come in. We need your help, and so do your children. Over 500 independent studies on parent involvement show that grades go up when parents get involved in their children’s education, test scores improve, children are more likely to attend better schools after high school, have fewer discipline problems and are less likely to use drugs and alcohol.
