Marina Del Rey Middle School and Performing Arts Magnet

Superintendent Cortines Visits Marina

I was most pleased with my visit to Marina Del Rey today. The grounds could not have looked nicer. It is obvious that the students respect the school and take care of it. I was pleased in the number of parents that were engaged in learning about the school and learning on how they can help the students. I was pleased with the music program and the sincerity of the students engaged in the orchestra. The Adaptive P.E. program was very good as well as the dance program. I was very pleased with what I saw. I visited 3-5 special education classrooms; the care and genuine instruction to our special students was noteworthy. The math program was exemplary. One of the things that struck me as I visited other classrooms was the courtesy and respect of the students towards each other, and towards the adults. You could not have a more inviting media library. When I look at your student newspaper, I was surprised as well as excited to read the wonderful articles. I am pleased with your API, but I am sure that you have set your new goal and I am sure that you will have no problem reaching it. - Ramon Cortines
