Google Funds 52 Projects at Marina del Rey

Teachers all over Los Angeles were greeted Monday morning with an email from DonorsChoose telling them that thanks to the generosity of Google, all of their projects had been funded.

The announcement came from Mayor Eric Garcetti in an event held at Marina del Rey Middle School. Eight Marina teachers were given some of their project materials on stage. In addition to the mayor, honored guests included Board Member Steve Zimmer, Councilman Mike Bonin, Superintendent John Deasy, Google executive Thomas Williams and Glee star, Kevin McHale.

Twenty teachers at Marina del Rey had a total of 52 projects funded - the donations include everything from paper and pencils to projectors, laptops, document cameras, art supplies, books and digital cameras. District-wide, Google completed over 1,000 teacher requests for nearly $1,000,000 worth of supplies.
