Marine Science Academy Students Go Beyond State Average in CST!

Congratulations to all Marine Science Academy students! Job well done on the state exams. State average for Proficient and Advanced students in English is 52%, 65% of Academy students scored at Proficient or Advanced. State average for Proficient and Advanced students in Math is 49%, Academy students scored 66%. Keep up the good work!

First Place QuikScience Winners Go To Catalina!

The winning team spent an entire week on Catalina Island. They stayed at the world famous USC Wrigley Marine Science Center and had an experience of a life time! They snorkeled, hiked, listened to college lectures, had campfires, and on and on. Check out the pictures!

First Year Marine Science Academy Students Take First Place in QuikScience Competition!

The five members of the sixth grade Marine Science Academy QuikScience Team took first place in the four month science competition sponsored by USC and QuikSilver. They competed against 46 other teams in three categories: lesson plan, environmental solutions,and community service. They also had to endure an hour-long interview in front of four judges at USC. The five students won a week-long trip to Catalina Island and will participate in many marine science activities, along with researchers at the USC Wrigley Marine Science Institute! Sixth grade Marine Science Academy students in QuikScience Competition!

Congratulations to the the five students in the Marine Science Academy for making it to the final round of the Quick Silver sponsored QuikScience Competition. Judges interviewed the five students at USC on Tuesday, March 10, 2009. Interviews were only for the top three teams. Teams will not know their final placements in the competition until Thursday, March 19, 2009 at the Quick Silver Headquarters. GOOD LUCK MARINERS!

Marine Science Academy doing a great job!

Students are having lots of fun collecting data for NOAA. They have been hard at work, fighting currents and waves in order to collect sand crabs! Take a look at our data and see if you can figure out the differences in sand crab populations. Ms. Seekins and Ms. Ung will take students to their designated NOAA site this Friday, for another day of important data collecting! Keep up the good work!
