Mrs. Ramirez has been teaching eighth and seventh grade English in Marina’s performing arts magnet, since 2005. This year, she is teaching two sections of choir. Before deciding to become a teacher, she was a professional actress appearing in various sitcoms including Saved by the Bell, throughout the 1990’s, and worked as a radio disk jockey for a jazz station in Ventura County. She has a degree in Drama from California Lutheran University and a credential in English from California State University Northridge. Currently, she is pursuing a Master's of Divinity at Fuller Theological Seminary. Mrs. Ramirez came to love teaching middle school by observing her father, a retired LAUSD seventh grade English teacher, who inspired her to enter a career that focuses on changing the lives of others for the better. She has always loved kids, and enjoys helping students become competent and enthusiastic readers and writers. According to Mrs. Ramirez, the best part of being a teacher is having the ability to help shape students’ character, foster a life long love of learning and help students know that education is power: it leads to greater self-discovery,provides amazing opportunities for a promising future and a fulfilling life.
